Initiatives
In close association with the Musée Soulages, the Cercle International Pierre Soulages has identified a number of key initiatives to pursue as part of our activities. While your membership helps to fund these initiatives, they each require additional investment.
Each of these initiatives is open to multiple types of involvement. You can support them through sponsorship, in-kind donation of goods or services, or direct financial donation, among others. Exclusivity is an option depending on level of support.
Acquisition
The Cercle International Pierre Soulages is involved in helping finance certain major acquisitions.
The CIPS may accompany the museum in the acquisition of works suggested by the museum’s director.
Our mandate includes enriching the collection for under-represented periods, such as the 1960s and 1970s as well as early Outrenoirs after 1979.

Library enhancement
The Pierre Encrevé Library in the museum is an important resource for academics and enthusiasts, offering a rich array of documentation concerning the work of Pierre Soulages.
To ensure its status as the definitive reference center for all things Soulages, the museum is perpetually on the lookout for new reference materials to add to the collection. We help in purchasing relevant items whenever they are available.
The library boasts a sizable collection photographs of Pierre Soulages, his workshop, and various exhibits, created by such notable artists as Jean and Michel Dieuzaide, Fritz Pitz, Denis Roche, Derek Hudson, Yousuf Karch, and Agnès Varda.
The museum enlargement project includes a new documentation building which will house and make more accessible the richness of the collection, and will use new technologies for sharing items on on-site and virtually.
Temporary exhibits
In accordance with the wishes of Pierre Soulages, the museum contains a temporary exhibit space of 535 square meters. This space has hosted many critically-acclaimed exhibits of artists thematically linked to Pierre Soulages, such as Picasso, Calder, Le Corbusier, Yves Klein…
Temporary exhibits regularly bring in 80,000 or more visitors. The Cercle International Pierre Soulages participates in these exhibitions through direct financial support as well as negotiated sponsorships, naming rights, media partnerships, promotional partnerships, etc.
I’ve never cared for one-artist museums, but this one will be like no other.
The accent will be on creativity, on the manner works are created, and most importantly, the museum will be open to other contemporary artists.

Museum expansion
The museum board of directors recently approved a long-term expansion plan. This expansion will provide more space for the permanent collection, an expanded temporary exhibit space, an enlarged gift shop, and more room for the museum library.
This project provides a wide variety of opportunities for corporate support, in which Le Cercle Pierre Soulages will play an active role.
